I’ve been to Harrison, Arkansas, which is the headquarters of the Ku Klux Klan. What’s alarming about them (and I assume any hate organisation) is how normal and nice their constituent members are. They’re perfectly decent people, they clean up the highway, they do anti-drugs programs in local schools, etc.
And they want to “get rid” of all black people. And then Jews. And then Catholics. And then anyone else who isn’t like them.
It’s from my meeting with the Klan that I extrapolated that just because individual Christians can be nice and charming and interested in the community does not mean that they are not active participants in a hateful belief system. Never let one guy talk you out of that. Never listen to the "Well, they’re not real Christians" argument. It’s bullshit.
